2025 WAG Member Submissions

Ends on

Writers Alliance of Gainesville (WAG) members, please submit all work, regardless of genre, here.

In an effort to highlight and celebrate work by WAG members, this year's Bacopa Literary Review writing contest will include a "Best of WAG" award in each of our five submissions categories. Winning pieces will be noted in the journal's table of contents, as well as in the body of the journal. These pieces will be featured on our Editors Blog and social media, and the authors will also be invited to read their work at our annual journal debut event.

While there are no separate cash prizes for these awards, winners will still be considered for the cash prizes in their genre of the overall contest. Please be sure to note which of our genre categories you are submitting to (Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Free Verse Poetry, Formal Poetry, or Visual Poetry) in your cover letter.

Guidelines:

  • You must be 18 years old or older.
  • Only one submission in one genre (Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Free Verse Poetry, Formal Poetry, or Visual Poetry); please do not submit to another genre unless this submission has been declined. Your uploaded file must contain only the title of the work itself, not the author's name.
  • See individual genre guidelines for word count, number of pieces per submission, line spacing, file format, and other specifics
  • Bacopa Literary Review does not accept previously published material

The submission process includes a text entry box titled "COVER LETTER,"  where you provide the following information:

  • Name, address, email, phone, title, word count, genre of the piece you are submitting (Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Free Verse Poetry, Formal Poetry, or Visual Poetry) and bio of 50 words or fewer. This is the only place where your name appears.
  • Where did you hear about Bacopa Literary Review?
